School of Medicine

Client: Anglia Ruskin University

Architect: Tiziana Mori (RIBA stage 2)
Project value: £ 12 millions

In 2015 the faculty of Health, Education, Medicine and Social care have requested new specialized spaces to be able to respond to the high demand in Health and Medicine matters. The university was keen in delivering a new School of Medicine to teach new GPs and increase the local demand. After visiting new similar facilities across country such as London and Derby, I designed and developed the project to a RIBA stage 2-3 , after various consultations with the faculty which allowed the university to cost the proposed building and triggered the funds raising. The embalming room was a very high specialist area which was developed together with LEEC (specialised supplier) and with reference to what was realised at the university of Derby.
In the meantime the proposed project became part of the bid with the SCAPE framework and the project was handed off to an external architectural practice, Rivington street studio and Willmott Dixon contractor to progress the project though all RIBA stages and completion. I was part of the panel to decide the architectural practise and on the client side during all stage, until completion to make sure all detailed drawings were responding to the university standard and faculty requests.
The building has been very successful and now there is a request for a new extension to expand the capacity.
